The templates are hole cutting guides for spiral saws and rotary tools.
They work by precisely guiding the saw for you while cutting the hole.
They set the exact path that you will cut along so that your hole will be the perfect shape and size every time. Because they guide the saw and set
the pattern it cuts your holes are guaranteed to always turn out right. And because you know that the saw is only going to cut where it's supposed to you can cut holes with them as fast as the saw is able to cut the material.

All of templates that cut holes with straight sides have built-in bubble levels for accurate alignment so that your holes are never crooked.

In essence, the attachments work like router bases for spiral saws and rotary tools. The attachments work together with the saw and the templates so that the templates will properly guide the saw. They attach onto the guide foot that comes with spiral saws and with most rotary tools. They prevent the saw blade from coming into contact with the templates while cutting holes. They keep the saw properly oriented to cut squarely into the material so that the sides of your holes are always straight. And they make the saw totally stable and easy to control while cutting.
