The ADAPTA-BASE works as both a cutting base and as a router base.  With it you can now use spiral saws and rotary tools as both saws and as routers.  Even though spiral saws and rotary tools are not as powerful as full sized routers there are lots of times that using a full sized router is difficult and overkill.  The ADAPTA-BASE is for all those situations where you need to do router operations but you just don't need a full sized router.

What makes the ADAPTA-BASE so adaptable is that it is the first attachment for spiral saws and rotary tools that works with that same inter-changeable steel router guide bushings as those used for full sized routers.  The router
                             guide bushings it works with are
                             removable and changeable so that you
                             can use the attachment either with or
                             without a bushing installed.


With a bushing installed you can use it with all the Installation Templates.  It works with the over 30 different major brand name spiral saws and rotary tools listed below.  It attaches onto the guide foot that comes with spiral saws and with most rotary tools.  It makes the saw totally stable and easy to control while cutting.  It keeps the saw perfectly oriented to ensure that the saw blade cuts squarely into the material so the sides of your holes are always straight.  It prevents the saw blade from coming into contact with the templates while cutting holes.  It is also see-thru so you can look through it to watch the saw blade as you insert it into the material you're cutting.

Please note: The ADAPTA-BASE attaches onto the guide foot that comes in the 565 Multipurpose Cutting Kit for these tools.  You will need this foot in
order to use the ADAPTA-BASE.

And with it you can use spiral saws and rotary tools with all kinds of other templates available from other makers.  The ADAPTA-BASE measures 4 ½" wide by 5" long by 3/8" thick.  It is this size so that it will work with all kinds of templates including those for full sized routers.  It works with router guide bushings that will install into a 1 3/16" center hole.  These bushings are available from several makers with collars in a variety of diameters so that you can use lots of different sizes and styles of saw and router bits.

Without a bushing installed the ADAPTA-BASE is ready for freehand cutting and for use with router bits that have guide bearings.  These types of bits are commonly used for edging materials like wood and laminates.  The ADAPTA-BASE lets you use spiral saws and rotary tools as trim routers because with its large size it keeps the saw stable even when working over an edge! 


The ADAPTA-BASE is great when used with cordless spiral saws!  We use ours as a cordless trim router for doing counter-tops.  And we've found that it's great for cutting the recesses for door hinges.
